Escapade | Human Mind

While surfing blogs Sister Celtic's blog came to mind.

She never cease to amaze me with the varied kinds of entries. Just love to know the happenings on Lopez Island.

Lopez in Malay means a sweet dessert of glutinous rice shaped triangularly and served with coconut shavings and syrup.

Anyway, her entry of "Can You Read This" proves the power of the human mind is amazing and very true. Read the passage and you will concur. Click photo for more.

Escapade | Hello Uncle

Finding one but found two things at Giordano in Tampines Mall.

I found the exact pair of jeans I have been hunting for quite a while that I just have to have it, and yes, the other is the reality of being called "Uncle" when I entered the store. Bumper!

Have always grown-up wearing clothes from Giordano, HangTen and U2. From polo shirts, right down to the socks and undergarments. Always in the same frame of mind - in my twenties of sorts.

Reality literally kicked like a ton of bricks onto me when I was greeted, in all good intentions, with "Hello Uncle!" Click photo for more.

Escapade | Crane Vs Crane

Have always been fasinated with buildings and nature.

The wild birds, especially the white Little Egrets that we would see in flocks of 4 to 6 in the open field around Tampines scouring for food.

This migratory birds are the most prominent in the housing estates because of its larger size and outstanding white plumes. But today I witness an awesome sight on the bus back home from work.

There were literally about a hundred of these birds in the open field off Tampines Road and Tampines Avenue 10 junction. It was like in a scene in Savanah from National Geographics. Click photo for more.

Abode | Service 34

Yes! Another great addition to our convenience in Tampines.

Bus Service 34 is now plying through our area linking with it our most frequented places and bringing direct travel to my sisters and brother homes.

From Punggol Bus Interchange to Changi International Airport Terminals 1 & 2, this route makes getting around less of a hassle.

We are so delighted with this additional convenience that practically at our doorstep.

Photography | Helix Nebular

Another email received from a friend today that made me appreciate the power of the Almighty.

Hubble Space Telescope captures an end of life star that spans a beautiful, almost dreamy-like photo of the not so beautiful explosion of a dying star.

They termed it as "Eye Of God". I would term it as "Act Of God".

Though this photo has been around for some time, and the vast coverage it received in the US, I just have to keep this for myself simply to remind me that there is a greater Almightly. Click photo for more.

Escapade | Lighter Side

There are so many types of people we meet everyday and interact with them either at work, or socially in our lifes.

An email I received from a friend is so funny yet tells the truth about the types of persons we see and maybe we are too.

The person who created this humor should be commended for his or her creativity. I just had to have this kept in my blog.

I would like people to think of me as being the last one, because that would make me really happy. The more "sweet potatoes" there are in the world, the better it is to human kind. Click photo for more.

Abode | LCD TV

My folks had their 29Inch CRT TV acting up on them again. This time, the worst has happened, the TV is calling it quits.

Acustomed to the large screen, my parents was surprisingly open to new technology and open to enjoy life more where they can afford. They wanted the type of LCD TV that I am having.

Dad and I went to Courts in Causeway Point Mall last Sunday and eventually set his mind on a 32Inch LG LCD TV. The TV was delivered to them two days later with a vacuum cleaner as a free gift, and WOW! they are loving every minute of it. Click photo for more.

Escapade | Life's Irritants

Always tell myself to look at life in a positive light, but.... yes but, there are this small and trivial matters if I really think of it that bug me over and over again.

Always tell myself that these are coincidences, but I keep experincing it again and again, just like a few days ago when I was on my way to my parents from Tampines to Woodlands.

I fortunately got a seat in a crowded bus number 168 as it was a long journey. Reading a book and enjoying the scenery half the journey, when I started to cough so loudly and I would say, violently that the quietness except the humming of the bus was shattered by my cough.

A few heads turned to stare at me while the guy beside me must have thought that I had an infectious disease or something as he curled the other way and placed his hand over his nose slowly. I am not sick, but just choked for some reason. Why?

That is one in a list I compiled of Life's Irritants that still bug me. Click photo for more.

Family | Fasting Starts

Today marked that start of the Month of Ramadan or fasting in the Muslim Calendar.

It starts today and ends tentatively on 2 November 2005, when the next day is the month of Shawal where all Muslims will celebrate Eid Fitri, triumph after the month long fasting from dawn to dusk and abstaining from all things evil or sinful as humanly possible. Doing charity is strongly encourage during this month as this would instill selflessness and the giving spirit.

We are especially proud of my son whose 10 years old. This year would be his third year of completing the month long fasting just like us adults. His fellow Muslim classmates are observing the fasting too. He is strong-willed and a reponsible child. We are blessed to have him.

Here's wishing all Muslims Selamat Berpuasa or Blessed Ramadan. Click photo for more.

Abode | Tampines Community

Consider ourselves fortunate. Very fortunate.

While the neighbouring countries battle with the aftermath of terrorists' acts, we are here given the peace to celebrate the opening of Tampines Central Community Complex off Tampines Street 83.

Build at S$5 million, the complex is the first Community Club housed in a complex with supermarkets, food court and other facilities integrated into one. It is just a walking distance away from our apartment block.

The grand opening was done by our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. A great honour to me, for him to come to all the way to Tampines for this event. Click photo for more.

Escapade | Paradise Destroyed

I literally jumped out of my sofa when I read the newsflash at the bottom of the screen while watching Channel News Asia.

It read "4 bomb blast in Bali. Injuries reported."

I was so annoyed with the revelation that the bombing of innocent people is still the way to go for these terrorists to justify a cause. Whatever the cause now, is all so lost with me.

The fact that they use Islam as front as justification for whatever retaliation against whatever cruelty is blasphemiy. I am very angry because I have known Bali to be a peaceful island during my second honeymoon. The place serene, the people so polite and friendly, the culture so rich.

Has always been in the back on my mind to revisit the place and indirectly help out the flagging economy there with my little bit of contribution, but with this after the first horrible attack, the perfect paradise for me destroyed.

I am still trying to find some sense in all this. Click photo for more.
