Family | Planet Mars

My childhood interest on Astronomy was rekindled again with an email received that Planet Mars is going to be closest to Earth this month of August 2005, particularly on 27 August at 12.30am.

It is an only cosmic happening that will occur once every 60,000 years, since the last time it came as close was about 5,000 years ago as calculated by astronomers.

Armed with a telescope I bought for my son last year and "perched" on the rooftop of a multi-storey carpark, we intend to watch the skies every night till end August, to catch a glimpse of this cosmic alignment that would appear as bright and as big as the moon, that no one alive today will ever get to see it again!
